Professional Saxophonist, Composer and Educator

As an accomplished educator, performer and Mack Avenue Recording artist, Fuller has received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Spelman College (Magna Cum Laude) and Master’s degree in Jazz Pedagogy and Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder (Summa Cum Laude).  For the past 5 years, Fuller has been selected as the featured saxophonist in R&B star’s, Beyonce’s all-female band: featured in the I Am Sasha Fierce, Beyonce Experience, and Live at the Wynn Theatre World Tours and DVD’s. In addition she has performed on The Oprah Show, Today Show, Good Morning America, Today Show, World Music Awards, and 2010 Grammy Awards,

Fuller is a has recorded three CD’s under her own name:  Pillar of Strength (2005, Wambui), Healing Space (2007/ Mack Avenue), and Decisive Steps (2010/Mack Avenue), which received #1 JazzWeek rating for two weeks straight, ranked #3 in JET magazine’s top jazz cd’s, and nominated for Best Jazz album for JazzWeek.  Fuller has also been featured on the cover of JazzTimes Magazine (June 2010) as well as Ebony Magazine, Jazziz, and Monarch magazine.  Her quartet has also been featured at the following prestigious festivals:  North Sea Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz Festival, Vienna Jazz Fest, and Estoril, Portugal, Luanda, Angola.

In addition to being a leader, she has performed with jazz luminaries including Ralph Peterson Setet and Fotet, T.S. Monk Septet, Jon Faddis Jazz Orchestra, Rufus Reid Septet, Nancy Wilson Jazz Orchestra, Orrin Evans Quartet, Sean Jones Quintet and Wycliff Gordan Septet.

As a devoted educator she presents lectures and world-wide at the: Stanford University’s Jazz Workshop, New Mexico State University, Panama Jazz Festival and WBGO’s “Children in Jazz” Series.

Growing up in Aurora, Co., to a musical family, Fuller Sound, Tia Fuller continues to serve as a selfless vessel for the music to flow through.
